Congratulations to East Croydon Station for being awarded the accolade as being the worst station in the country.
This is the first thing that visitors to our town see and experience.
It is pretty shameful that things have been allowed to get so bad!

I'd been puzzling as to how anyone could vote East Croydon the worst railway station in the country and what exactly the criteria were.
It seems that in fact it came bottom in a survey covering just the twenty busiest railway stations in the country and apparently it was judged on the 'overall environment', whatever that means. As the other stations were relatively large and spacious London and regional termini and interchange stations I'm not that surprised that East Croydon didn't really compete. It is after all not really any bigger than a multitude of other suburban stations, it just happens to have a lot more passengers.
Obviously East Croydon does need working on as it is simply too small to do the job, but I don't think its all that bad.
Surely this station is the worst for buying tickets, I have to allow 20 minutes for ticket purchase at peak times. Even at quieter times there are significent queues at all the machines.
