Croydon's Cultural Quarter
As our beloved council rushes headlong into creating a "cultural quarter". I draw their attention to this quote from The New Statesman:
"History, however, will judge whether these qualities can actually be planned and paid for".

We have "culture" in Croydon - the Fairfield Halls, the Warehouse Theatre - but it appears that because the Council didn't think of them in the first place, they aren't prepared to support them, preferring instead to run them into the ground by removing their grants. I say let's remove the Council's "grant" ie. Council tax funding and see how they like it!
